HOMEMADE VANILLA ICE CREAM

(Makes 1 quart)

INGREDIENTS:

1.         2 eggs.

2.          2/3 cup of sugar.

3.          1 quart half & half or 2 cups of whipping cream.

4.          2 teaspoons of vanilla.

PROCEDURE NO. 1:

  • Beat eggs and sugar until thick and creamy in texture.
  • Add 1 quart of half & half or 2 cups of whipping cream.

  • Add 2 teaspoons of vanilla and mix.

PROCEDURE NO. 2:

Materials required:

1.          Crushed ice (approx. enough for a 1/2 fill of 2-gallon freezer bag).

2.          1/2 cup rock salt.

3.          One 1-gallon freezer bag.

4.          One 2-gallon freezer bag.

5.          One pair of work gloves or oven mitts.

  • Place the crushed ice and 1/2 cup of rock salt in a 2-gallon freezer bag. 

  • Place the ice cream mixture in a 1-gallon freezer bag. 

  • Place this 1-gallon ice cream bag -inside the 2-gallon ice and rock salt bag.

  • The men now shake the 2-gallon bag until the ice cream is firm in the inner bag.

  • Suggest using work gloves or oven mitts during this shake.
